Advancing Technology for Efficient, Affordable, Safe and Sustainable Gas End-use

Utilization Technology Development NFP (UTD) is a not-for-profit, utility-directed organization that conducts near-term applied scientific research and development. UTD helps gas customers adopt technical innovations that save money and energy, reduce GHG and other emissions, further integrate renewable energy resources, achieve superior environmental performance, and enable safe, reliable, and resilient operation of their equipment and energy delivery systems.

UTD’s mission statement is to "Identify, select, fund, and oversee research projects resulting in innovative customer solutions which maximize the environmental performance, affordability, efficiency and safety of equipment and processes that use gas and renewable energy resources."

Founded in 2004, UTD’s commitment of millions of dollars in research and development—in partnership with governmental agencies and laboratories, technical organizations, and leading universities, institutes, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, customers and others—has yielded many advanced technologies, products, solutions, and key technical resources.
